Closing Ceremony: Cross Border Financial Investigations Training

15-06-15 CBFIT course2Ambassador Robert E. Whitehead closed today, a two week training on “Cross-border Financial Investigations” in Lomé. Experts from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency conducted these trainings for one hundred police, gendarmerie, and customs officers, as well as judicial and financial experts, to teach them strategies to stop illicit financial traffic on either side of national borders.

Closing the training, Ambassador Whitehead indicated that workshops were one of many ways  that the United States and Togo closely work together on security issues.  Mr. Whitehead also encouraged the participants involved in the fight against transnational crime to multiply exchange sessions with their colleagues from neighboring countries.
