On Friday September 2022 Ambassador Elizabeth A.N. Fitzsimmons officially closed the Access program funded by the Department of State and implement by APET school in Kpalime. The Public Affairs Officer, Prefect of Kloto and several school officials were in attendance. Launched in 2022 to benefit 45 talented yet economically disadvantaged young students, this two years of afterschool intensive learning aims at providing English courses, American culture and values, personal development, technology, and civic lessons.
Ambassador Fitzsimmons emphasized the role of education for all, drawing on the words of Nelson Mandela: “The function of education is to teach people to think intensely and think critically. Intelligence plus character, that is the role of true education.”
