Forming a new generation of young political leaders

The launch ceremony for Embassy Lome’s Youth Political Participation Program (YP3), took place in Lome on Nov. 21. The program aims to boost youth involvement in politics by training 400 young leaders in different regions of the country on the opportunities provided by the decentralization process and local elections; on effective political communication, and on the basics of building a grassroots, issues-focused organization. The opening ceremony featured a powerful speech by Ambassador Gilmour on the necessity of greater youth engagement in political life, as well as participation from the Ministry of Decentralization and the Ministry of Communication & Civic Action.
