Influenza Laboratory Inauguration

Influenza lab inaugurationOn June 17, Ambassador David Gilmour took in the inauguration of Togo’s Institut National d’Hygiène’s new Influenza Laboratory.  The Department of Defense Humanitarian Assistance Program funded the construction of this new laboratory in Lomé.  The facility includes specialized laboratories and offices and we hope will enable Togolese medical authorities to better meet the challenges of protecting the Togolese people from influenza.  In his remarks, Ambassador David Gilmour noted, “The Embassy of the United States of America supports expanded access to quality healthcare as a high priority in Togo and Africa more broadly, and we are proud that the United States Department of Defense Humanitarian Assistance Program provided the funds to build this laboratory.”
