On August 31, the US Ambassador to Togo was in Sokode for the  English learning award ceremony  for 45 students of the region. These students from disadvantaged backgrounds and selected on the basis of academic merit, benefited from a scholarship program funded by the US State Department allowing them to benefit from two years of intense English language learning at the Technical Commercial Institut  Assumption of Sokodé. This certificate ceremony, which marked the official end of this program, took place in the presence of the Prefect of Tchaoudjo and several other educational and religious figures, as well as relatives and friends. The US Ambassador David Gilmour in his speech once again emphasized the benefits of this program which are beyond the mastery of the English language, a better understanding of American culture and its values ​​of democracy, civism, and community engagement by saying, ” I have the certitude that you are well skilled to become good models for your family members and your community.
