The U.S. Embassy has received reports that there is a demonstration at the University of Lome. Security forces have been deployed and there are reports of security forces using tear gas.
Please remember that even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence. You should avoid areas of demonstrations, and exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protest, or demonstrations.
